Jaws hanging up all the time!

Hi all,
I need some help with this. Most of the time, when I'm on the internet, jaws will lock up, and do nothing! For example, when I switch from messenger to the zone, jaws will do nothing, and I'll have to use narrator for several minutes. Not only does jaws do this, but at any time, I'll get an error saying application file for jaws has encountered a problem and needs to close. I can get this error at any time, and it even appears all of a sudden! FYI, I scan for viruses and spyware, and usually don't have anything like that. I really need to resolve this problem because some of my tests are taken online, and they're timed. Jaws can lock up at any time, and that takes up time that I could have been using to take the test.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

are you using eliquance dec talk, or sappy five? the reason I am asking this is because I have noticed that with sappy five it freezes up alot more, but with eliquance it doesn't. have you tried reparing it? you may have some currupted files somewhere. it's just a guess though, you may want to call the tec support and ask them if there is anything you can do.

I use eloquence. I've even had problems where when I'd start jaws, the window will come up, but no sound. I'd have to totally restart to get jaws to talk!

Which version of Jfw, and which Operating System?

Hmm, I'm out then. Not because of the upgrade, but the one time I had a simular problem I was using Jaws9 and WindowsXP...So, I had a suggestion, but what I had to do changed between our two versions. How long has it been since your system has been reloaded? I'm just asking out of curiosity the first things that come to mind as possibilities.

What exactly do you mean by reloaded?

Everything important backed up on to external hd, cd/dvd or secondary drive. Your primary drive reformatted and Windows completely reinstalled. That is what I meant by "reloaded". Sorry, when I asked the question I should have explained.

No, I don't have anything backed up. I can't reformat my harddrive because I don't have a backup copy of windows, and I couldn't install windows since I can't see.

Run MSCONFIG and on the startup tab for now check disable all. I've seen wireless or internet monitors lock up jaws before on both desktops and laptops. If you reboot and things seem to come up ok, check anti virus and spiware programs to enable them but leave your startup as bare as you possibly can.

Good idea, but could doing this do any damage to windows? Also, I tried doing a jaws repare, but that didn't help at all. I wish I could upgrade, but I don't have the funds to do so.

It still happens with JAWS 9. I'm encountering similar issues on Windows XP Pro SP2. Are you running Juice Receiver as your podcast receiving client? If so, try turning it off in the system tray for awhile and see if the issue decreases in frequency or goes away. You'll want to turn Juice off each time your system reboots.

Of course, all experiencing this problem should also be opening cases with Freedom Scientific tech support, as that's the only way they'll know there's an issue. :-)

are you sure it's jaws and not ie 7?

I'm quite certain it's jaws because it hangs up even when I'm not on the internet I think it's a good idea to call freedom scientific tech support about this issue.
